Suddenly at University Hospital London early Friday morning June 17, 2016. John de Winter of Shallow Lake and formerly of Sauble Beach and Stoney Creek in his 72nd year. Beloved husband of the late Sheila (nee Morton Read) (2012). Loved father of Teresa Podmore of Brantford, Janet de Winter and her partner Billy Hedderson of Cambridge, Patricia Schefter of Trenton, Peter Read and his wife Audrey of Stoney Creek and Philip Read of Hamilton. Loving grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 8. Dear brother-in-law of Darlene 'Dee' Phillips of Stoney Creek, Lilian Carrick and her husband Ron of Bracebridge, Christine Stephens of England and Evelyn Price and her husband Lee of Belleville. Predeceased by his brother Jacob (Jay) de Winter and sister Clara Klerks. Friends may call at the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME Hepworth Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev John Smith officiating.
