Our sympathy to Valerie and to Dave's family. We enjoyed having Dave as a board member for Massie Hall. He would help out when the hall had a concert on the go, placing posters around town and helping during the day of an event. We ran across Dave at most music venues... Massie Hall Concerts, Summerfolk, the Roxy, and Harbour Nights in Owen Sound. He had a great smile and laugh, and you couldn't help but smile or laugh along with him. He gave of himself endlessly, always willing to help out where he could. It was an honour to have known him and we will miss him

My condolences to Sarah, Jeff and all Dave's loved ones, for the loss of your father, brother, friend, companion. Dave was a great neighbour of ours for years and I especially owe gratitude to him for his quick response and expertise when I had a chimney fire at my home. May good memories of time with him bring you solace and comfort.

Dave will be greatly missed by the Owen Sound Probus Billiards Club. He progressed steadily and thoroughly enjoyed the weekly snooker games. He always had a big chuckle and belly laugh when someone made a good shot, but remained calm and collected whenever he had a good shot. RIP. We were so sorry to hear about Dave. We didn't know him all that well, as he had started volunteering only relatively recently for the Owen Sound Little Theatre set building team, but we always valued his cheery good humour and willingness to pitch in wherever he was needed. He had given the last couple of shows a miss, but we had hoped to see him again soon in the theatre shop. Reading his obituary was a poignant experience as we didn't yet know him well enough to be familiar with his personal life and many other interests. Our condolences on the loss of this gentle, helpful and kind man.

We met Dave many years ago when he worked at the Junior Ranger Camp at Emmett Lake near Tobermory. Years later we became Attack season ticket holders and to our amazement Dave remembers us! We shared a hello and conversation at every game and will miss him very much. We smiled at Dave's tribute as it described him so well. Rest in peace Dave.

Condolences to the family and partner Valerie
I knew Dave as a colleague from MNR
We often bumped into each other at the Y or at the Harbour Nights concerts downtown on the pier.
Dave was always upbeat and enjoyed life. May the family and Valerie gain comfort from his memories and easy smile

Our condolences to your family for the sudden death of David. I worked with David for many years at the Isaac Lake Fire Attack Base (MNR). We have remained friends for many years and met every year in December with other fire people to laugh and reminisce of crazy adventures. His laugh was so infectious. David, my friend I will miss you.

We are so sorry to hear this news about your dad. It has been years since I’ve seen him but I can still clearly picture his smile and hear him humming a good tune as he drove us around to all of our shenanigans. I think we can all learn valuable lessons from the way he lived his life and found his passions. Ive been thinking of you guys lots this week. Sending big hugs xo

Tim and I are saddened to hear this news. We considered Dave a true friend both working with him at Rockwood Terrace, and the most enjoyable get together outside the workplace…a true adventure seeker brings to mind him wanting to learn to roll in a sea kyack, generous in his giving us hockey tickets when he was unable to go..which was rare, and his curiosity to learn, like what he was to do with all those elderberries in his freezer..we will miss him..our deepest condolences. Dear Kathleen and Dave's family. Brad and I send out deepest condolences at this sad time. Dave was a down to earth fella. Always pleasant with the biggest smile. He has many friends who cared about him. His YMCA family asking about him. He was asking me for Grandma Shipley's chicken giblet soup recipe. He wanted to make it. One of his many friends said he would have made the soup. Thinking of you.
