Obituary of Cal Edwards

EDWARDS, John Calvin - It is with sadness we announce the passing of Cal Edwards, at the age of 92 years, peacefully in the palliative care unit at the Wiarton Hospital on April 10, 2025.  Cal  was predeceased by Roxy Gail Edwards, and daughter-in-law Kathryn Edwards.  He is survived by his cherished son Mark, dear grandsons Dan (Laura) and Derek (Chloe) and great grandson Calvin.

Cal had a storied work life, from helping Elgin Armstrong build the concrete runways at the Pearson International airport, to operating an Esso gas station in Glencoe, to becoming an automotive teacher in Ridgetown where he retired to become a contractor at Sauble Beach. At the age of 88 he was still building decks and doing renovations work. Cal's work ethic was second to none and a role model for many. In the words of his son, 'if I die half the man my father was, I will die a great man'.

Private family funeral arrangements entrusted to DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth.  Spring interment Zion Cemetery, Hepworth.  A private family celebration of life will be planned for a later date.  As expressions of sympathy, donations to Wiarton Hospital (c/o Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation), would be appreciated by the family.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family through www.downsandsonfuneralhome.com
