Obituary of John Rossitter

ROSSITTER, John - With heavy hearts we share the passing of John Gerard Rossitter of Owen Sound on October 1, 2025 in his 82nd year.  Survived by his wife Mary Lee of 56 years, daughter Laura (Adam and Sarah), son Frank and his wife Emily (Gabriel, Brooklyn and Katie), sister Rosemary Hill (George) and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Frank and Margaret Rossitter, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

John was retired from Goodyear Canada Inc. after 30 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus for 35+ years.  A devoted active member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Owen Sound for 30 years.  John loved his walks on any beach he came across.  A proud volunteer for Brightshores as well as the Roxy Theatre and the Festival of Northern Lights for 5 years.

While we deeply mourn his loss, we take great comfort in knowing John's battle with cancer is over and he is at peace with his Saviour.

The funeral Mass will be conducted from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Owen Sound on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to Mass.  Arrangements entrusted to the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth. In lieu of flowers, expressions of remembrance to Brightshores Health System Owen Sound or  the Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope Transportation Program would be appreciated.
