Allan McKinnon

Obituary of Allan McKinnon

McKINNON, Allan James passed away doing what he loved most - feeding his cattle on the farm on Thursday, September 28, 2023.  Allan McKinnon of Tara in his 75th year.  Beloved husband of the late Linda (nee Miller) (1998).  Cherished father of Shannon Quinton and her husband Roy of Orangeville, Beckie of Tara and Matthew and his wife Susan of Kemble and grandpa to Nolan and Cole.  His constant companions Jack and Sadie will miss him dearly.  Dear brother of Lillian Rogers (Doug), Maxine Cole (Jim), Pat Lester, Cathy Thompson (Wayne), Linda Kuhl (Bob), Merilyn Noble (Murray) and Dave McKinnon (Brenda) and brother-in-law of Louise Miller-Joyal and Debbie Pepperdine (Wayne).  Missed by many nieces and nephews.  Pedeceased by parents Phyllis (nee Turcott) and Max McKinnon and brother-in-law Larry Lawrence.

Allan's love and appreciation of agriculture started at a young age on the family farm.  He carried his passion for agriculture throughout the entire span of his life, passing it along to his children and grandchildren.  He was an avid cattleman and beef farmer who would lend a hand at a moment's notice to a neighbour in need.   Allan established a successful livestock transportation business, McKinnon Transport, which he owned and operated for over 58 years working alongside his dear friend Doug for over 25 of those years. Allan had a love of all things shiny and chrome.  He always took pleasure in adding a piece of gear to his fleet of trucks, farm equipment and antique tractors big or small.   Allan enjoyed his regular Tuesday routine of heading to Keady Livestock to take in the cattle auction and exchange in the witty banter with the community regulars.
