Rhoda graduated from Owen Sound General and Marine School of Nursing in 1956. She married Glen September 1957 and began a series of moves with his career that would take her to several communities in Ontario, then to Vancouver, Winnipeg, twice to Montreal, and then to Toronto. In 1989 they retired to the family cottage at Sauble Beach. Over the years Rhoda made many friends through golfing, curling, skiing and bridge. She also maintained a lifelong contact with her nursing classmates. Rhoda was also very active with her church. She was a lifetime member of United Church Women and served on several church boards and choir. Rhoda spent many happy hours in her garden, often working until after dark "to get one more thing done". Memorial contributions to Zion Amabel United Church "Mission and Service Fund" or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy. Messages of condolence for the family are welcome at www.downsandsonfuneralhome.com. A tree will be planted in the Memorial Forest of the Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation in memory of Rhoda by the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME.
