Obituary of Frank Low
LOW, Francis William James 'Frank' peacefully encircled by the love of his family early Tuesday morning June 24, 2014. Frank Low of Sauble Beach in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Dorothy Low for 73 years. Loved father of Ron (Diane), Cheryl Minke (John), Maureen Low (Moe), Frances Low and George (Gail). Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Jason (Michelle), Tammy (Todd), Natasha (Gilles), Tanya (Frankie), Matthew (Shpresa), Devon, Chad (Dana), Clint (Kelly) and Kaila (Richard) as well as 13 great grandchildren. Frank was born in Torquay, England, the middle of 3 children. In his youth, he loved singing in the Anglican choir, dancing, soccer and swimming. He became a butcher by trade, enlisted in the Royal Airforce serving in WW II and rose to the rank of Sergeant. Frank was deployed to Port Albert and met his dancing partner for life in Port Elgin. After the war, Frank ran a grocery and meat market business in Kincardine for 9 years then moved to Chesley to operate the Red and White grocery store for 6 years before buying the General Store at North Sauble Beach. Frank ran the commercial empire of Low's Food Market, penny arcade, gift shop, snack bar, post office, cottages, gas pumps and 18 hole mini golf course for nearly 25 years at the north end of Sauble Beach. Frank is predeceased by his sister Winnifred Smith and brother Fred. Somewhere above Dad is cutting the choicest BBQ steaks to the culinary delight of his Heavenly customers. Informal visitation for family and friends will be held at the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth, Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Private family funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home Saturday morning with Rev. Matt Diebel officiating. Interment Zion Cemetery. Expressions of remembrance to the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce would be appreciated.
