Obituary of Hazel Wilton

WILTON, Katherine Hazel peacefully at Gateway Haven Nursing Home in Wiarton with her husband by her side Wednesday afternoon January 15, 2014. Hazel Wilton (nee Brown) of Wiarton in her 98th year. Beloved wife of David E. Wilton for 47 years and the late Earl McGarvey. She was a member of Unity Rebecca Lodge #147 Wiarton for over 60 years. Hazel is survived by numerous cousins and many dear friends. Hazel came to Wiarton as a teenager. She found various jobs housekeeping and as a waitress at most restaurants in Wiarton in the mid 1940's. She met and married David Earl McGarvey. Earl joined the military army subsequently serving overseas. He was killed in Holland on the day before Armistice in 1945. Hazel went to work at W.G. Cheshire grocery store until starting work at Canada Post where she stayed for the next 35 years. Friends may call at the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted from Gateway Haven Nursing Home, 671 Frank Street, Wiarton Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Laksmanis officiating. Unity Rebekah Lodge #147 Wiarton will hold a Memorial Service at the funeral home Saturday afternoon at 1:45 p.m. Spring interment Bayview Cemetery.
