Many moments come to mind as I remember Kaye as a part of our family celebrations throughout my life. She loved to see us, loved her Sauble Beach home and her church community, and making music. She also really appreciated the good ministers, good friends, good food, good sports, novels and the good memories that God blessed her with right to the end.
I will miss her, but we know she is with the Lord and many who have gone before. I am thankful she was supported and able to have her space and live in the cottage for so many years. I wish I could be among you to hear stories of her growing up out east, and meet the people whom she fondly reported taking good care of things for her through the years.

We were so sad to hear of Kaye's passing. I've been coming to Sauble Beach as a child and remember seeing Kaye on her walks as she lived just a couple houses behind us. My husband and I moved to Sauble as permanent residence in 2006. It just seemed a natural part of the day to see Kaye walk down to get her daily mail just by the corner of our property. It was a marvel to me to see Kaye stride in, proud to cast her vote at the last election. My brain was doing the math as I watched her tall and alert looking for all those familiar faces of her neighbourhood. Greeting us. She eventually made friends with our wee Yorkie Briannah, showing her true nurturing spirit. Having worked in health care many years I've abserved that the nurturing spirit is just a breathing part of the soul... Kaye's spirit in this neighbourhood will live on.
Our condolences to the family and other friends.

We knew that this funeral was coming for several weeks as more of Kaye's organs were failing and the combination of treatments needed was not as effective as before. In visiting her in hospital, she was always appreciative, and we enjoyed some good conversations about her years of living. She was so thankful to have her family caring about and for her, even though too far away to be part of daily living.
For that she had a good circle of friends and caregivers. We had hoped she would be able to come to Gateway Haven in Wiarton soon so we could stop by more often.
Last Sunday, our son Jack took her for a walk outside to explore the grounds of Southampton Care Center. Then he left and a bit later John and I went in for a visit. She was short of breath and we noted how the nurse in her was still there, observing the edema, the need for oxygen... But she was interested in our lives too.
Saturday is the 5th annual Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race. Jack and Tara are overall coordinators for the Long Course Race, and Gena is Chief of one of the 3 transition areas where the 100+ racers go from kayak to bike or bike to run... Many volunteers helping along the way, but we are the people who are responsible for things going well. Tara is also chief safety officer for the whole event, including the short course race... Chris and Nelvia are running the other transition area. So that is where we will be that afternoon. Kaye loved sports so much, and was really interested in hearing about the race and preps - I suspect she will keep an eye on it too.
