Obituary of Leslie Milton Allen

Peacefully with family by his side at Grey Bruce Health Services Meaford Tuesday morning November 1, 2016. Leslie Allen of Owen Sound formerly of Wiarton in his 97th year - A World War II pilot and flight instructor for the RCAF. Beloved husband of the late Joyce Allen (nee Atkinson). Les and Joyce owned and operated Allen's Lunch, Bowling & Billiards and Allen's Menswear in Wiarton for over 35 years. Loving father of Joan Jones and Beverly Brough-Bartlett and her husband Paul Bartlett all of Owen Sound. Lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren; Wendy and husband John Arnott of Mississauga, Sandi Jones of Hong Kong, James Brough of Owen Sound, Keetah Brough of Orillia and Michael Brough and his fiance Alexia of Vancouver, Alina and husband Jason Ticknor of Kitchener, Amanda and her husband Josh Banford of Ottawa and Joshua Bartlett and Jessica of Owen Sound and his 6 great grandchildren; Allen, Sarah, Haley, Cody, Andrew and Alexandria. Dear brother-in-law of Jean Shipley and Carol Cairns both of Wiarton. Predeceased by brothers John, Mel and Oliver. A funeral service to honour Les' life will be conducted from the Shallow Lake United Church, Shallow Lake on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ed Laksmanis officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment at Boyd Cemetery. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 208 will conduct a Legion Service Saturday morning immediately prior to the service.
