I am so very sorry to hear about Ray’s passing. I worked with Ray for many years at Western General Insurance. We have had many conversations over the years about everything under the sun. He always had a cheery attitude and infectious laugh. He will be missed by many.

Our condolences to the Barclay family. I was fairly young the last time my father and I saw Ray and Russel on the farm. He was a great neighbour.

I have great memories growing up and visiting the Barclay farm every summer. Ray's mom, was my grandmother's sister. We always enjoyed our time at the farm. Aunt Elma and Uncle Russell would often come to Grandma and Grandpa's cottage at Sauble Beach. Ray was the one that told me that chocolate milk came from black cows. I believe him! But, then, I was only 6 years old at the time. My brother, Keith Nelson, enjoyed many visits with Ray over the last few years. He and the rest of the Barclay family were wonderful people. Our condolences to the rest of his family and friends. Gail (Nelson) McGinnis, Keith Nelson, Nancy Nelson, and Steve Nelson.

I have great memories of cooking Ray his Turkey dinner on Christmas Eve for many years. He was a master at making homemade wine and always brought me fresh produce from Ralph Pitts. He even bought me a meat thermometer to make sure the turkey was done just right. He was especially talented at his outdoor cookouts at the trailer. What a feast he would put on with many choices and variations for all of his guests. He provided a very scenic venue for us all to enjoy at his beautiful farm property at Arran Lake. I am glad we got a nice visit in recently. I will miss him.

Gordon & Ray met in a very unusual way, but that one meeting gave us both a wonderful friend. We were fortunate to become members of "the Barclay Weekend Campout", thru which we met many more good friends. Ray always had a good story to share & had time to listen. Gordon became another "little ole winemaker" thru Ra's teaching, something they both enjoyed immensely.
We know he is keeping watch over all of us, holding that glass of wine till we all met again.

Ray was a great friend and neighbour to us. I remember he would cruise in the lane on a Sunday morning for a coffee -chucklin away, farmer tanned and talking fast like an auctioneer. Cheers to the master electrician and winemaker tipping his hat and glass in Heaven. Much love and warm memories, As Ever, Tammy & The Caseys
