We would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to Amy and family. Tom was such a special member of the Shallow Lake community. He was a gentle, kind-hearted soul who will be greatly missed. We are especially grateful to all the love, care, and support he offered the Fernando family over the years.

Tom was a quiet / thoughtful sincere person and you will miss him.
He liked the tranquil bush, his John Deere Tractor and Huskvarna Chainsaws.

Tom .. You where and are a great neighbour for some 30 years.
Lily and I have so many great memories, you helped us build sheds, barns, chicken coops, graded our pot holed lane and you came for meals and played board games with Lily while I cleaned up the kitchen.
You spared cutting down a huge maple tree once you saw yellow ribbons hanging from its branches.
You brought us a beautiful German Shepard that some one left in the woods to die, and you offered your 200 acres on a hill so, when Rosey was old and passed on .. We all buried her there.
You never asked for anything from us, but you gave us so much, with your friendship and love.
Thanks Tom for being part of our life.
Sorry, I can't come to say our good byes in person, so I'm saying it to you now.

I will hold dear the memories as a child of staying with Uncle Tom and Grandma, while Mom was in the hospital. The every day phone calls between a brother and sister (our Mom, Marjorie Shipley) and the laughter and love those calls represented. Our thoughts are with Aunt Rena, Aunt Laura and our cousins who will truly miss Uncle Tom.

Well once again....my heart breaks with the loss of another cherished family member, and family patriarch, a man, who at a young age became head of household and took on responsibilities ....cared for his cherished mother with such finesse ....until her passing. I know as time passes.... the older we get ...and distances grow between us all, one thing remains constant.... although we may disagree from time to time.... and we don't speak to each other...for whatever reason we feel is valid...we are blood....we are family....take a look around we are all we have left...we learn from our mistakes...we are here to carry on in the memory of those gone before us...oh but for the grace of God go us...Don't waste the precious time we have left....memories...family...love..,...Faith that we will have another day to tell our loved ones that we care....Hope....for the coming generations to learn from our past mistakes....and carry on in our memories ....as we do today in Uncle Tom's memory and that of ones gone before.

We are so sorry for your loss Aunt Amy
Uncle Tom was a wonderful person and my family were sooo lucky to have him in our lives. He was more then an uncle to me he was that father figure throughout my life and was there whenever I needed him. He was there for all the special moments in my life and then continued within my children's lives. I do not remember a moment that he was not there from birthdays, special occasions and he was there to give me away at Shaun and my wedding which meant the world to both of us. Cameron, Daniel, Taylor and Isabella will miss him dearly and the many visits and get togethers that we have had. They have not had a person that they have connected with like they did with Uncle Tom. They talk about him always and remember the trips to McDonalds, Harrison Park and get togethers at our house. We will miss all of them moments that we have had with him and will hold onto all of our memories and cherish them dearly Heaven has received another wonderful angel that I am sure will continue to watch over us from above.
RIP Uncle Tom
